PROTECT OUR YOUNG PERSONS FROM INDECENT MATERIALS ON THE "INTERNET"
The fascinating on-line world of Internet provides
users with a wealth of information. It is both interesting and exciting
to explore sites on the Internet. However, there are sites with indecent
contents which are not suitable for children and young persons. Parents
or guardians can protect their children from objectionable materials transmitted
on the Internet. Here are some suggestions:
Install filtering softwares to block objectionable sites. Filtering
softwares filter out sites not suitable for children and young persons
by compiling and updating a database of objectionable sites. Due
to the growing nature of the World Wide Web, it is essential to constantly
adding new sites to the filtering software through the software vendors.
Please consult your Internet Service Providers or any computer software
providers for advice on such installation. The following are some filtering
softwares for home computer users which are available in the market:

Parental guidance is an effective means to protect young persons from
objectionable materials on the Internet. Please do spend time with your children
on surfing the Internet. If your children surf the Internet by themselves,
check up on them regularly to see how they are doing. Encourage your children
to discuss with you if they find any offending sites particularly those
with indecent or obscene content.
